Taking the city and its infinite living options as my reference, my work presents a visual analysis of the image, the interferences, the effects and signs which construct the urban context; all of this via practical and experimental research in paint and video formats. We have daily contact with paint, as a result of the actions we produce in our dialogue with the city: brands, marks, gestures, scratches, imperfections, stains and residues, portray the characteristics of our identity as inhabitants. Accordingly, my approach brings together different aspects of our ability to review, create, communicate and transform any daily activity into a resource for the content or subject matter of paintings, videos and installations. I am especially interested in how canvas and camera explore manipulative possibilities and the consequences which are derived from the mechanisms of our perception. The main feature of my research is the experience of this relationship: conscience and the point of contact between processes – all at once immediate and distant, real and fictitious – , between thought and vision. My starting point is an open structure which reflects the nature of that which is born in the studio, enhancing what is left behind for the spectator to complete. Likewise, I understand that the image establishes a visual statement irrespective of time and space to produce something new, consequently the possibilities in the scope of work expand greatly.
